#10 Why “The Insightful Creative?”

Welcome to blog post #10 of The Insightful Creative.

It’s been almost a month since starting this blog and 10 posts in, with 310 of you reading over this past month. That’s amazing. Thank you for being a part.

Some reflections since beginning a month ago:
We love creativity and are curious about it. Telling stories and sharing ideas around our creativity builds a sense of shared understanding, common ground, and empathy. There are moments of vulnerability that can provide a sense of validation to others experiencing similar struggles or breakthroughs. All of this can help create a bond, as those reading can see their own stories reflected in the experiences of others.

All these stories and shared ideas - or insights - around creativity invite reflection, thought, and dialogue. When we see others sharing their personal stories and experiences about their creative process, it creates space for deeper conversations for ourselves and others. We can reflect on how our own creativity can be made more resilient, can grow, or can be shaped in our own lives.

The name of the blog, The Insightful Creative, hopes to welcome a reflective, thoughtful approach, signaling that what we discuss and explore here goes beyond surface-level discussions, and we delve into meaningful reflections, experiences, and wisdom about the creative process. The goal is that readers can gain some valuable perspectives that inspire their own creative journeys.

The word “creative” is meant to be broad and inclusive, capturing the essence of what the blog is about - creativity in all its forms. Whether readers are artists, musicians, writers, engineers, scientists, or simply individuals looking to live more creatively, the title is about them. It evokes the idea that creativity isn’t confined to traditional artistic fields but is a way of thinking and approaching life.

Onto the second month of life for the blog, more interviews, reflections, and resources on the way and we’ll continue to explore creativity as something to embrace, reflect on, and integrate into one’s daily life. I hope you feel welcome and supported in this space that aims to encourage your own creative growth.

Mary Oliver’s instructions for living a life - pay attention, be astonished, tell about it - seem a fitting finish to this post, and some encouragement to continue on with our creative explorations.

What are you paying attention to today?
What are you astonished by?
